Or how to beat the heat in this hot, hot, Delhi Summer!
Those of you living in or familiar with the Delhi Summer would know what I am talking about. The temperature has been soaring and the most tempting impulse is to lock yourself away in an air-conditioned room and do nothing at all. A sense of overpowering lethargy and listlessness takes over and even the thought or act of a cold shower is barely refreshing. Specially when, in the time that it takes you to throw your clothes on after a shower, you are drenched all over again. It has been even more painful, if that is even possible, in our top floor apartment. My poor balcony plants are withering away and all I want to do is stay in a chilled swimming pool all day.
Since that is really not an option, after all a living needs to be earned, we have been OD-ing on as many cool summer beverages as we possibly can. I thought that it was a good occasion to share some of my favourite summer beverages from this blog! So here goes:
Aam Panna: Raw Mango and Mint Cooler
In addition to being refreshing, this raw mango and mint drink is also apparently a remedy for heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Recipe here.
Home-made Iced Tea
Making iced-tea at home, from scratch, gives you the flexibility to control the strength of the tea and the level of sweetness, something that no pre-packaged instant mix can measure up to. And it’s not as complicated as you may have thought! Recipe here.
Iced-Coffee
Iced Latte, Iced Americano or a Coffee Slushy, make coffee-shop style iced-coffee at home. This post tells you how. I know it’s a long post with very many different kinds of coffee, but it will be worth it!
Mango Mojito
If you’re feeling a bit boozy, then this one is for you! Making the best of the summer mangoes with some mint and Bacardi, it delivers quite a kick! Recipe here.
Banana Coconut Smoothie
Start your day with a bang with this filling smoothie – using tender coconut meat rather than the ripe fruit makes it lighter and fresher. Recipe here.
Make yourself a glass of one or all of these and I’m sure you’ll find the energy to combat these painful few days!
